🧠 H5P Question Set (Quiz)

The Question Set module in H5P is a flexible and powerful way to bundle multiple question types into a single, trackable quiz. Unlike the Column module, which simply stacks separate content vertically, the Question Set combines all questions into one activity and calculates a total score, allowing for formal assessments and performance tracking.

A key feature of this module is its ability to host a wide range of interactive question types, such as:

  • Multiple Choice
  • Fill in the Blanks
  • Drag and Drop (Text or Image)
  • True/False
  • Mark the Words
  • Essay Questions

Each question retains its own behavior settings, but all are unified under a single structure with cumulative grading, customizable navigation, and global feedback settings.

🔍 Key Behavior

  • Combines multiple interactive questions into a single quiz
  • Cumulative score from all questions is calculated and displayed at the end
  • Feedback can be shown based on score ranges (e.g., grade A/B/C/F)
  • Optional: Allow or disable backtracking, randomize questions, limit number of questions shown
  • Users can optionally see correct answers or retry the quiz

📌 Use Cases

  • Formal assessments: Create a scored quiz with mixed question types for summative evaluation
  • Self-paced review: Design a low-stakes test with retry options and solutions visible at the end
  • Placement or diagnostic tests: Randomize a selection of questions from a question bank for initial screening
  • Reading comprehension tasks: Combine essay questions, multiple choice, and true/false about a passage or image
  • Homework assignments: Track performance by embedding quizzes into WordPress posts and monitoring results

⚠️ Limitations

  • Questions are navigated one at a time using next/previous buttons; there’s no option to display all at once
  • Each question must still be created or imported manually
  • Visual layout is rigid; difficult to embed media-rich text followed by questions in a seamless format
  • Essay questions are not auto-graded and may skew the total score

🧾 Summary

The Question Set is one of the most complete and structured quiz options in H5P. It provides a unified experience for learners, complete with progress indicators, score tracking, and end-of-quiz feedback. It’s ideal for building complete quizzes, tests, and structured activities where you need results from multiple types of questions all rolled into a single score. Though the navigation is sequential and slightly rigid, it remains one of the most trackable and assessable modules in the H5P ecosystem.
