🕰️ Create Interactive Timelines with H5P: A Fun Way to Present History and More

If you love sharing stories through time, you’ll want to check out the Timeline module in H5P — one of the coolest ways to create interactive presentations right on your WordPress site. Whether you’re teaching history, mapping a project, or showcasing events, this module brings timelines to life with multimedia and easy navigation.

✨ What Makes the H5P Timeline Special?

The Timeline module isn’t just a simple list of dates. You can add 🎥 videos, 🖼️ images, 📝 text, and 🎧 audio to each event, making your timeline a rich, immersive experience. It supports zooming in and out, so viewers can get the big picture or focus on specific moments. Plus, it includes a handy 🔳 full-screen mode that turns your timeline into a clean, professional presentation.

For example, I created a timeline of Iraq’s history starting from 3500 BC to modern times. Each event is packed with pictures, captions, and detailed descriptions — and some events even stretch across periods, shown by a 🔵 blue line to indicate the timespan. It’s super easy for users to click through events or use navigation arrows to explore the story at their own pace.

💡 How You Can Use It

  • 🧑‍🏫 Educational timelines for history, science, or literature classes
  • 📈 Project timelines for business presentations or portfolios
  • 📖 Storytelling tools to showcase company milestones or product evolution
  • 📚 Interactive workbooks where learners explore topics visually and at their own pace

Tags and eras help organize events, making complex timelines easier to follow. For instance, I used tags like “Sumer” and “Writing” to group related events, which appear neatly aligned on the timeline.
